Although car accidents can happen at anytime on any road, it is easy to understand why highway incidents often times lead to increased involvement and injuries. Due to the speed of vehicles traveling on highways, accidents can result in serious injury and even death.
Recently, seven people were injured in a 10-car accident on interstate 83 north near the Maryland-Pennsylvania state line. The accident occurred on the Maryland side of the state line, and as a result traffic was backed up for many hours.
According to reports, the accident was caused when a tractor-trailer rear-ended a vehicle. This led to a chain reaction that caused major damage to all 10 vehicles involved. All seven people that were injured are expected to fully recover from their injuries.
As a result of the accident, emergency workers were on the scene for an extended period of time. The aftermath was so bad that interstate 83 north had to be shut down for several hours. Hazmat teams were also called to the scene to ensure that all fuel spilled at the crash was cleaned up in the appropriate manner.
Sometimes, you can be involved in a car accident when you were doing your best to remain cautious and keep a close eye on those around you. When high speeds and multiple cars are involved, the chance of death is great. Fortunately, nobody was killed as a result of this accident; however, the driver of the tractor-trailer could be held responsible for the crash, including the injuries that were suffered and the damages to the 10 vehicles.
