He served as an Assistant Public Defender for the next five years, practicing in Washington, Baltimore, and Montgomery counties. During his time with the Public Defender’s office, Matt represented hundreds of clients charged with felony and misdemeanor crimes in both the District and Circuit Courts. Those matters ranged from simple traffic matters (DUI, driving on a suspended license, driving without insurance), to much more complex cases, such as drug possession, burglary, assault, and murder.
Matt joined the firm in April of 2017. His practice focuses on representing individuals who are injured in automobile crashes, workplace accidents or police misconduct. Matt also represents individuals accused of crimes and traffic offenses, including representing them at their Motor Vehicle Administration hearings. Matt’s practice additionally includes representing injured workers before the Workers’ Compensation Commission and representing businesses under investigation by the government. Matt has been able to obtain millions of dollars for his clients through settlement and jury verdicts.
Matt is an active member of the Maryland Association for Justice and the Maryland Criminal Defense Attorney’s Association and has been voted by his peers to be a Maryland SuperLawyer Rising Star each year since 2017. He has also previously acted as the attorney coach for the mock trial team at the Park School of Baltimore, his alma mater, including helping to lead them to both State and National titles. Matt is an avid Maryland sports fan. During the summer, chances are pretty good you will find him at Camden Yards. He loves the Orioles, Ravens, Terps, and Washington Capitals.
